FAQs
Here are the most common questions that visitors to this website have. We receive two kinds of questions: a) from native and non-native speakers of English about our proofreading services; b) from non-native speakers about improving English in general. We hope that we have helped everyone here.
How does the proofreading work? 1. Send us your document by email in any of these formats: .doc, .html, .txt. 2. We will give you a quotation and delivery time. 3. You reply to the email accepting the quotation. 4. When your document is ready, we send you an invoice by email. 5. When we receive payment, we will return two copies of your document, one showing suggested changes and one made perfect.
How can I trust that you will do a good job with my work? It’s in our interest to present perfect work to you to be sure that you will tell your friends and colleagues about us.
Can I afford your service? Send us a sample of your work, tell us if you need us to proofread or to copy edit and we will quote for you. Your work will be kept totally confidential.
How can I improve my vocabulary? Read, read, read - and use a dictionary. There isn’t a short answer to this question but those few words are pure gold! Read a newspaper every day, read novels, read anything to expose yourself to new words. Use a dictionary, play word games, subscribe for free to AWAD (A Word A Day), which sends a new word every day to your e-mail. Love words and use the new words that you have learned!
How can I improve my grammar? Again, read, read and read! The more you read, the more it will just come naturally. There are some great books to help you too. These days CD-ROMs make self-access learning so much more interesting and the Internet has a wide variety of grammar help too.
What about fluency? How can I become more fluent? Our most successful students say that they read a lot in English and watch English-speaking TV. They watch shows like 'Oprah' which deal with the real life topics which interest us all. In addition, they watch actively rather than passively, which means that they have a notebook and pencil in hand while they are listening. Is that what you do? I’m taking the IELTS exam soon. What books do you recommend? There are so many useful books on the market and it really depends which IELTS Band you are working towards. The books below are featured on our Books page. For a low intermediate student aiming for Band 4.5-6, we recommend IELTS Foundation. If you are an intermediate and aiming for Band 6 or higher, we recommend Insight into IELTS. If you are aiming higher still, you’ll need IELTS Practice Tests and IELTS Exam Papers.
