Conversation Class
1:1 English conversation
You can book a 1:1 online class for a class with a qualified teacher (who is also a native speaker of English). Each class lasts 50 minutes during which the teacher will hold a text chat conversation with you on a topic of your choice or you can talk about a 'surprise topic' if you prefer! See the topic list here.
Book a 1:1 class using the booking form*. Once you have paid the required fee and have received confirmation of the class time, put your class in your diary! You will receive further acknowledgement that payment has been received along with the name of your teacher and date and time of class.
*Allow 2 days for us to set up your first class.
At the time of your 1:1 class, login. Click on your teacher's name and your class will start. The timer will help you both make the most of your 50 minutes.
At the end of your class: • you will receive your full conversation as a record by email • you will be asked for feedback on the usefulness and interest level of the class • your topic area will be stored so that you don't cover the same areas again
To benefit from these lessons, … • you will need the basics of English with at least a lower-intermediate level • you must be able to carry on a simple conversation – we will help to take your English further, faster! • ask when you don't understand (much easier in an online conversation!) • try to start thinking in English 10 minutes before your class starts – if you have chosen a topic, try to think in advance of some of the things you might want to say, the structures you might use and the vocabulary you might need
Or if you prefer, simply log on and chat!
After your 1:1 class … • think about the new words or expressions you learnt and write them down • were there any idioms, those special sayings that help your English to sound more natural? • you could search for a partner with whom to revise the lesson you did last. • you may want to use a dictionary! There are many online translators – save one to your favourites. Try this one ...
Tip …
- Don't overdo it! It's better to do little and often than tire yourself out by doing too much at once.
Your teacher … - will be a native speaker of English - will be a graduate and a qualified teacher, usually with a Master's degree in TEFL, TESL, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, etc - may not be the same teacher for each class
While our main focus is on helping you to speak more naturally, we can help you with your writing too. Take a look at the English-FAST proofreading information.
